PRESS

For Knocking on the Wall:

Nominated for London Pub Theatres Award, Best Production.

★★★★ “An exemplary staging …  an acid final twist is dealt with the lightest of touches. … Finlay Glen’s very fine stagings are hyperrealistic. The material world is beautifully conjured,” The Observer

★★★★ “Finlay Glen’s intimate and absorbing production,” The Stage

★★★★★ “Finlay Glen is obviously a hugely talented and imaginative young director who knows instinctively how these plays should ‘go’ – bringing out the light and shade and cleverly pacing them so that we are never aware of the surprises that suddenly appear around the next corner,” LondonTheatre1

★★★★★ “This captivating evening from director Finlay Glen is a must see for theatre-goers citywide,” Everything Theatre

★★★★ “The work of Ena Lamont Stewart deserves to be seen more often, particularly when it is interpreted at this high standard,” London Living Large

★★★★ “Finlay Glen’s smart direction … Ena Lamont Stewart’s rich characters come to life in this sublime evening of Scottish plays,” Theatre Weekly

★★★★ “The production is thoughtfully conceived, with wonderfully choreographed set changes … every part of the production feels considered, with nothing left to chance. … Finlay Glen’s direction has mined the dialogue for truth, and this comes through strongly in the performances.” London Pub Theatres

For To Have and To Hold:

Nominated for London Pub Theatres Award, Best Production.

★★★★★ “An absolute theatrical masterpiece,” Fairy Powered Productions

★★★★★ “Society’s expectations are laid bare in this beautiful story about an elderly couple… Director Finlay Glen has perfected the piece with small details,” London Pub Theatres

★★★★ “Works like a dream with a play made for an intimate setting. Finlay Glen makes full use of space and perspective… A must-see,” Playhouse Pickings

★★★★ “An assured and hopeful story… gripping,” London Theatres 1

“A beautifully tender and perceptive portrait of a marriage… Mark Steere and Susan Graham are perfectly cast and, under the direction of Finlay Glen, give conversational and engaging performances that draw us into their domestic world…,” Everything Theatre

“Director Finlay Glen goes full-throttle into pushing inside the more unsavoury aspects of the material, suggesting the work is less a rosy portrait of a caring and supportive relationship weathering hardships than it is a prolonged psychodrama – a charged and fascinating chronicle of dysfunction,” Lost in Theatre Land

Dryad Theatre

In 2021 I co-founded Dryad Theatre and I am the company’s current Artistic Director. Our first productions were filmed at the Arcola Theatre and released online: a revival of Samuel Beckett’s late play Ohio Impromptu with Niall Buggy and a piece of new writing, Catch Me If You Can, with David Horovitch.

Our first full live production was To Have and To Hold, which opened at the Hope Theatre in Feb 2022 and transferred to the Bread & Roses Theatre in Nov/Dec 2022.
